Project Description

As a part of the Project of Expansion of Dubai International Airport, (DCA) appointed Engineering Consultants International (Pvt.) Ltd., to carry out the detailed Pavement Evaluation of one of the two Runways at Dubai International Airport, designated as 12R/30L. This Runway was abandoned for the flight operations due to the appearance of distress signals.

To make this Runway operational it had been decided to execute a detailed and comprehensive pavement evaluation programme, encompassing Destructive and State Of The Art Non-Destructive (Heavy Falling Weight Deflectometer Technology).

 

Services

ECIL provided the following services to the client:

Non-Destructive Testing:

  1. Detailed visual condition survey to establish PCI (Pavement Condition Index)

  2. Non-Destructive Testing using Heavy Falling Weight Deflectometer (HFWD) Kuab 240

  3. Analyse and Evaluate the Deflection Data

Destructive Testing:

  1. Conducted detailed Destructive Testing Program encompassing following:

  • Extraction Representative Core Section

  • DCP Testing

  • Test Pits 

  • Soil Investigations

Report:

A comprehensive Technical Report was furnished, which comprised of Pavement Analysis and Pavement Evaluation based on Non-Destructive and Destructive Testing Results. The other components of the report where the detailing of the various project activities, results of field investigations and conclusions drawn from the study and recommendations to address the problems revealed during the course of study
